On
the banks of the Kama River in the
Republic of Tatarstan, 300 kilometers
from the capital city of Kazan and 1,200
kilometers from Moscow, lies the young
town of Nizhnekamsk. Only thirty-five
years ago, Nizhnekamsk was a sparsely
populated hamlet, but today it is a
thriving metropolis with a population of
more than 250,000. While the city may
not be well known, the crude oil
refining capabilities, synthetic rubber
and petrochemicals produced there have
become world famous.
JSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim consists of
more than 20 plants and is one of the
largest consortiums on the European
continent offering a wide spectrum of
raw material processing. Their excellent
reputation has been earned both through
the manufacture of various products
(such as synthetic rubber and products
produced from ethylene, propylene, and
benzene) and through their reliability
for quality, timely delivery, and
service. In addition to industrial raw
materials, they also manufacture such
products as consumer goods detergents,
brake fluid, anti-freeze, sports shoes,
carpets, and linoleum. Products
manufactured by JSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim
are consumed both in Russia and
throughout the world. The plant
currently exports to Germany, Austria,
Holland, the United Kingdom, Ireland,
Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy,
Finland, Turkey, Hungary, Poland,
Bulgaria, Rumania, the Czech Republic,
Slovakia, the United States, Japan,
South Korea, and China. They received
the “Golden Mercury” award for their
international business activities.
Through its American office, Nizh USA,
JSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim has made a
concerted effort to market many of its
products to end users and direct
consumers in North, Central, and South
America.
Since the dissolution of the Former
Soviet Union, JSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim
has been addressing the petrochemical
needs of the world. This growing
aggressive company has become ISO 9000
certified, and has installed
environmental protection treatment
plants. Existing plants are being
modernized including the addition of a
new deep refinery. Training for workers
and staff members is constantly
increasing the level of professional
qualifications and high levels of
motivation are achieved through improved
social conditions. The company has built
homes for employees, operates schools
and day care centers, and supplies a
high standard of medical care through
company physicians, clinics, and
preventive medical facilities.
In order to keep up with changing world
technology, JSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim
maintains communication with many major
foreign corporations. Through these
discussions, information is shared and
state of the art production facilities
are maintained. In addition, JSC
Nizhnekamskneftekhim has its own
research and development center, and has
been successful in generating various
